Tips & Tricks

Maximize your vehicles net worth!

Increase the value of your car before you try to sell it or trade it.  A couple of hours can make the value increase hundreds if not more.  Follow these tips;

1.  Detail the vehicle inside and out.  Spend a little more time ensuring that the rims are free of brake dust and road grit.
2.  If you vehicle has stone chips buy a touch up stick that from the authorized retailer to ensure that the paint codes match.  A couple of minutes touching up the paint on the front of your car will help with first impressions.
3.  Clean the interior.  This doesn't have to be perfect but remove all garbage and items that do not absolutely need to be in the vehicle.  This will help prospective buyers imagine ownership.
4.  Place a bounce sheet under the front seats, the sheets that you would use for your laundry.  This will bring back the new car smell.
5.  Shampoo out the salt stains.  If you don't want to do this yourself most car dealerships offer this service and makes a big difference with the perception of value.
B-K Motors group will detail any make and model for you, please ask us for a quote.
6.  Change the oil.  The first thing people will look at when they look under the hood.

If you have done your part you may even want to keep your car vs. trade or sell it...... but we hope that we can tempt you with some of our offers.

Boost your Volvo's gas mileage

Estimated fuel economy for a Volvo ranges from 10.5 liters per 100 km in the city and 7.1 liters per 100 km on the highway for the C30 model down to 16.2 liters per 100 km in the city and 10.6 liters per 100 km on the highway for the eight-cylinder XC90 SUV. In most cases, it is possible to get above the EPA estimated liters per 100 km on any model of car if you learn driving tips and car care tips to help you maximize fuel economy.

Follow your Volvo maintenance schedule

  • A sticky thermostat, sticky brake calipers, low transmission fluid and dirty air filters all contribute to lower fuel economy. You could increase your fuel economy up to 15 percent by keeping on top of these small fixes.
  • Tire pressure

  • Check your tire pressure often and keep the tires filled to their recommended level.
  • Get aerodynamic

  • Take off the roof rack when you do not need it. The roof rack makes the car less aerodynamic and reduces fuel economy by up to 5 percent. Use the rack or kayak holder only when you really need to.
  • Lay off the brakes

  • Anticipate stops ahead of time and glide to a stop rather than using the brakes. Accelerating until 30 meters in front of the stoplight then slamming on the brakes wastes gas.
  • Take your time

  • Accelerate slowly. It is tempting to test the speed of a high-performance Volvo but it burns more gas than accelerating slowly. For every 20 km/hr you pour on the gas your fuel economy decreases up to 15 percent.
  • Shift high

  • Shift to a high gear as quickly as possible. Many new model Volvos come with Geartronic, meaning you have the option of shifting the car manually even if your Volvo has an automatic transmission. Some Volvos come with a manual transmission, making it possible to shift to a high gear when you want. The engine uses less gas when it is turning slowly.
